The Wonderland Collective was commissioned to transform the loading bay of the legendary Royal Albert Hall into a permanent exhibition of street art and graffiti.

Used in the preparation of more than 350 shows a year, the bay presented a huge canvas for the artists; with walls over four metres in height and a total area of nearly one hundred and twenty metres square on which to present their artwork. Remarkably, it only took four days and three nights to transform the dark, featureless area into a vibrant mural, which as well as depicting some of the most memorable moments in the Hall’s history, also incorporated images of some of the most iconic figures to have graced its stage. The centrepiece of the project was a stunning eight-by-five metre mural that included images of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Muhammad Ali, The Beatles and Pavarotti amongst many others.

The project was celebrated unanimously as a success, it received widespread press coverage and public recognition. Clearly living up to the pressure that one might expect to be placed upon the first permanent exhibition to be held at the RAH, it was reviewed as one of the most unique exhibitions ever to be seen at the Hall.
